Hills was a chain of discount department stores, headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts and found mostly in the mid-west and mid-Atlantic states. The company was founded by Herbert H. Goldberger. The first store opened in Youngstown, Ohio in 1957. The chain filed for bankrupcy several times and finally closed for good in 1999 then became Ames.
